atanda turns 15 today!

Today is the 15th ‘birthday’ of atanda web presence services : the first pages were served from a Mac Quadra 610 running WebStar on April 24, 1995. Through four geographic moves – three within the SF Bay Area, the last to Seattle – and as many platforms and upstream providers, the overall uptime is 99.91% (since the move to BitPusher last year, it’s been 99.97%). You can see what atanda looked like with 11 clients a year-plus later (Dec. 1996) here; atanda currently serves 83 unique sites (137 domains) for 65 clients.

Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said: ‘My son, the battle is between ‘two wolves’ inside us all.’

‘One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.’

‘The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.

The grandson thought about it for a minute, and then asked his grandfather: ‘Which wolf wins?’

The old Cherokee simply replied: ‘The one you feed.’
